Content policy & disclosure
Ubuntu — "I am because we are." A review site only works if everyone can trust it, including the people who disagree with it.
Our connection to these businesses
Grand Canyon Computers and Re4urbished (Christopher Whiten) built the website for every business listed here, or run the community ourselves. That is a material connection, and you deserve to know it. So:
- Every listing says which it is, right on the page.
- Our own opinion ("Our take") is labeled editorial, kept in its own box, and never counts toward the community rating.
- We don't give an editorial rating to anything we run ourselves.
- Businesses don't pay us for reviews or for a better score, and paying us for a website or hosting never changes how reviews are handled.
- If Christopher or anyone on our team posts a community review, it carries the "Connected to the business" label and doesn't count toward the score.
What we publish
Every review about a real experience with the business, positive or negative, as long as it follows the rules below. We don't edit reviews. We don't hide or delay reviews because of their rating or tone.
What we take down — the only reasons
| Spam | Advertising, link-dropping, gibberish, copies of other reviews. |
| Hate or harassment | Attacks on a person or group for who they are; slurs; harassment of staff by name. |
| Private information | Someone's home address, personal phone or email, or other details that could hurt them. |
| Off-topic | Not about an experience with this business (politics, news, a different business). |
| Undisclosed connection | An owner, employee, relative or competitor posing as an ordinary customer. |
| Not genuine | Not a real experience, bought, written by AI to pass as a person, or written for a reward that depended on being positive. |
| Threats or illegal content | Threats of violence, anything illegal. |
| The writer's own request | You can ask us to remove your own review at any time. |
"It's negative", "it's unfair", or "the owner disagrees" are not reasons. Owners can reply publicly and report a review; they cannot delete or hide one.
How moderation works
- Reviews from signed-in people, from the in-store card, or linked to an order go live right away.
- Reviews posted without signing in, and reviews with contact details or a link, wait for a person on our desk. We check them for the rules above — never for the stars — and publish everything that passes.
- Photos appear after a quick check, for privacy (faces, addresses, licence plates).
- Reports don't hide anything. A person reads the review against this policy and either leaves it up or removes it with a named reason.
- Every decision is written to an append-only log. Removed reviews are kept, not erased, so a mistake can be undone.
Incentives
We never pay or reward anyone for reviews. A business may thank customers for reviewing only if the thanks is the same for any honest review, good or bad — and the reviewer should tick "I got something for writing this", which shows on the review. Rewards for positive reviews are not allowed, here or anywhere: the FTC's rule on fake reviews and testimonials (16 CFR Part 465, in force since October 2024) bans them, along with fake and AI-written reviews, undisclosed insider reviews, buying reviews, and suppressing negative ones.
